For more than 100 years, the Sheriff’s department has been committed to serving
the Wyandotte County, Kansas area and seeking out new and innovative ways to provide
the best quality service to the citizens and visitors to Wyandotte County.
The Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office is a full service law enforcement agency that
consists of an Administration Office, an Adult and Juvenile Detention Centers, Training,

Unit, Field Services, Sheriff’s Emergency Response Team (SERT) and, an Investigations
Division. The Sheriff’s Office operates out of the Wyandotte County Courthouse.
The Sheriff provides a safe and secure environment for the citizens by keeping and
preserving the peace. The Sheriff’s Office is responsible for the day-to-day operation
of the county jail and provides charge and custody of the Adult and Juvenile Detention
facilities. The department has a total of 172 staff, which includes Sheriff and
Undersheriff, 173 of those are sworn staff and 35 are civilian members.
