Fire Department Divisions:
Fire Station No. 10
The city is protected by 18 fire stations, four of which are double houses staffed by a pumper as well as a ladder truck. Unlike some fire departments, one of the unique components of the KCKFD is that Fire Suppression, Advanced Life Support (ALS) emergency, and non-emergency response is available from all 18 fire stations.

Annually, firefighters respond to more than 25,000 calls for service with an overall average response time of less than 4 minutes. The KCKFD has been a pioneer when it comes to equipment. At one time, it had the areas first and only Hazardous Materials Unit. The Kansas City Kansas Fire Department also has specialty teams, which include Heavy Rescue, Trench, Water and High Angle Rescue Teams as well as being part of the KC metro areas Urban Search and Rescue Team.
