Deffenbaugh Resumes Regular Schedule Trash Collection this Week

If your trash was left on the curb last week, it will be picked-up this week on the regular schedule for residential trash and recycling collection according to Deffenbaugh officials.

The company decided to suspend residential service last Thursday and Friday due to extreme cold temperatures, which had created dangerous working conditions for employees on residential routes. The company has assembled additional resources in preparation for a week or more of heavy routes.

"We’re prepared to bring in as much temporary labor as we need to make sure we can collect all of the trash and recycling our customers put out on their regular days this week,” said company spokesman Tom Coffman.

Coffman also emphasized in a news release how grateful they were for customers’ support of last week’s decision to suspend collections out of concern for workers’ health and safety.

“I can’t overstate how appreciative we are of our residential customers,” Coffman said. “During the past couple of weeks, we’ve had two major holidays, a blizzard, impassable streets and brutally low temperatures, which have combined to force unprecedented trash service delays. Our customers have responded with patience, and they have consistently expressed their support for our delays and concern for our employees. The support from our customers has meant a lot to our crews, and they’re eager to get back to their routes.”
