Bonner Springs Mail Ballot Election - October 1, 2013

Shall the following be adopted?
Shall a City Special Purpose Retailers’ Sales Tax in the amount of one-quarter of one percent (.25%) be levied in the City of Bonner Springs, Kansas, pursuant to the authority granted in K.S.A. 12-187, such new special purpose sales tax is a portion of the total sales tax of one and three-fourths percent (1.75%) retailers’ sales tax currently levied by the City, with such tax to be used for general capital improvement needs of the City to include, but not limited to, payments of such lease obligations and principal and interest payments on such temporary notes and general obligation bonds necessary to finance same. Such levy of tax to commence upon the repeal date of the current Aquatic Park Special Purpose tax of one-quarter percent established by Ordinance No. 2067 and shall expire ten years following the date said tax would first be collected.
Getting a ballot
All active registered voters in Bonner Springs who are registered to vote on or before September 2, 2013 will automatically receive a ballot in the mail. If you register after September 2, but before the registration deadline on September 10, you will need to apply for a ballot using the application for replacement mail ballot form. August 17, 2013 - Begin mailing ballots to military personnel and overseas civilians
September 2, 2013 - All Bonner Springs residents registered to vote on or before today will automatically receive a ballot by mail approximately 20 days before Election Day.
September 10, 2013 - Last day to register to vote before election. If you register after Sept. 2, but before Sept. 10, you will need to apply for a ballot. One will not be mailed to you automatically.
September 11, 2013 - Ballots delivered to post office for initial mailing.
September 27, 2013 - Last day to mail replacement ballots.
October 1, 2013 - Election Day: Ballots must be returned to the election office by noon.
