Village West may have put the Dot on the map when it comes to shopping. Village West, an entertainment and retail district, has been attracting shoppers since 2002. Village West encompasses 400 acres of shopping, dining and entertainment options that you won’t find anywhere else in the area. It includes Cabela’s, which has 180,000 square feet of hunting, fishing and outdoor gear, and Nebraska Furniture Mart, which touts itself as the “largest home furnishings complex on the continent.” Also the Great Wolf Lodge, a 281-room family destination hotel with a 40,000 square foot indoor water park and Community America Ballpark, home of the T-Bones baseball team, are part of the Village West entertainment District.
In 2005 The legends, a recently added outdoor mall complete with fountains and open-air corridors for strolling, opened as part of – and in the heart of- Village West.
The Legends offers an outdoor shopping experience of years past with the most up-to-date shops of today. Designed to use its landscape and amenity areas to honor and celebrate the legends of Kansas from the past and preset-legends like Amelia Earhart, Wyatt Earp, Lewis and Clark, Dwight D. Eisenhower and Bob Dole, who are commemorated with statues and sculptures.
Village West is located at the intersection of two major highways. Three full interchanges exist at this location. Interstate 70 serves as the southern boundary and offers a four-way diamond exchange. Interstate 435 serves as the eastern boundary and offers two, four-way diamond interchanges.
