The Division of Building Inspection is responsible for the intake of Commercial Repair Applications, Commercial Remodeling Applications, and Commercial Tenant Finish Applications. Only if the project is for interior alteration or repair only, does not enlarge or alter the footprint of the structure, and does not change the occupancy of the structure.
To obtain a New Commercial Construction Permit, Commercial Addition Permit or a Permit For Change Of Occupancy of a Building, one should contact the DRC Coordinator and obtain Submittal Requirements for the proposed construction project.
Once all necessary documents are received the plan review process provided by the Division of Building Inspection or by the attending members of Developmental Review Committee ensures that your project plans comply with all applicable building codes and city ordinances. This process is very important as it can save an applicant time and money by identifying potential code violations before materials and labor are spent.
When all submitted construction documents have been approved it is the responsibility of the Division of Building Inspections, Permit Technician to issue all necessary permits. Once permits are issued It is the responsibility of The Division of Building Inspections Inspection Staff to perform all Required Inspections, and collect and review all required Third Party Inspections . For DRC Projects additional inspections are required to be performed by the attending members of the Developmental Review Committee.
The Division of Building Inspection is responsible for the enforcement of City Ordinance and Adopted Codes and often assists other Departments when violations are observed.
