Real estate name changes related to the information on individual property tax statements can be made in the Clerks’ office. Examples of common legal documents that can result in ownership changes are probate judgments, divorce decrees, or other court decided pronouncements.  

  • Real Estate Ownership Requirements  
  •  If there are name changes to a property previously filed in the Register of Deeds Office, the deed must be updated with the Register of Deeds Office. Statutorily the Register of Deeds office is responsible for recording prima facie evidence concerning property ownership.
