Doug Bach was appointed to the position of County
Administrator on March 8, 2014. Before this appointment, he served in the
position of Deputy County Administrator beginning March 2003. He earned his Master Public Administration
degree from Kansas State University in May 1990.
During his tenure as Deputy, Doug directed multiple major
economic development projects that have brought in hundreds of millions of
dollars into the area, which ultimately helped stabilize the local economy
during one of the worst economic downturns in our nation’s history. A record-breaking construction boom that’s
created thousands of jobs, built strong public and private partnerships and
established KCK and Wyandotte County as one of the most business friendly
governments in the region.
This strong track record under Bach’s leadership is what
also contributed to Google’s selection of Kansas City, Kansas being selected as
the first city in the nation for the deployment of its ultra-high-speed fiber project.
Bach’s career with the City of Kansas City, Kansas began
before consolidation in June 1990. He served as a Budget Analyst in the
Department of Finance; Program Manager in the department of Community
Development and again as a Budget and Fiscal Analyst. His career also includes
serving 5-years as an auditor for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department,
2-years as the Purchasing Director and in the position of Assistant County
Bach also maintains a
certificate in Regional and Community Planning from KSU; a Bachelor of
Arts in Political Science; Major in Public Administration and Minor in
Communications all from Fort Hays State University.
As County Administrator, Bach provides staff support services to the Board of
Commission and its committee meetings, and coordinates the development and
analysis of policy recommendations presented to the mayor and Board of

member of various boards and organizations such as the International
Association of City Managers, Kansas Association of City and County Managers,
International Council of Shopping Centers, Kansas City, Kansas Chamber of
Commerce and Optimist International-Piper Club to name a few.
