Kansas City, Kansas Public Library is a system of five
library branches located throughout Wyandotte County. The mission of Kansas
City, Kansas Public Library is to connect members of a dynamic community with
information, tools, resources, and welcoming spaces to enrich lives in Wyandotte
County. Services include a large circulating collection of books and
audiovisual materials, reference service, computer use and internet access, and
educational and entertaining programs for children and adults. The library also
houses the Kansas Collection of local history and genealogy resources and the
Connelly Collection of materials relating to the Wyandot Indians. The system
includes the Mr. and Mrs. F. L. Schlagle Environmental Library, a unique library
beside Wyandotte County Lake that offers scientific, educational, recreational,
and cultural opportunities to visitors of all ages.
The library is under the authority of the Unified School
District 500. It serves the population of Wyandotte County through a contract

Dykes Library, located on the University of Kansas Medical Center campus in Kansas City, Kansas, is one of the most complete medical libraries in the Midwest.
The Library is open to the public for those seeking health information or conducting medical research. Borrowing privileges are available to all faculty, staff and students of the KU Medical Center. Non-KU Medical Center individuals may purchase a membership for the Library, which will allow you to borrow library materials and use the Library's licensed databases (such as MEDLINE) within the Library.

The Mr. and Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library opened June 26, 2001. Located at Wyandotte County Lake Park, this KCKPL branch is a year-round interactive library, nature center, and nature trail offering scientific, educational, cultural, informational, and recreational opportunities to visitors of all ages. It was created by a Partnership between Wyandotte County Parks Foundation and USD 500.
Wyandotte County Library Board
The Chair of the Wyandotte County Library Board is appointed by the Mayor of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.
The Board elects the other officers, and the current term began September 28, 2004.
