Mayor Holland

David Alvey was elected November 7th, 2017 as the 29th Mayor of the City of Kansas City, KS and the 4th Mayor/CEO of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS. He is currently serving his first (4) year term.
 
David is the fifth generation of his family to live in Wyandotte County. He is the Assistant Principal for Faculty Formation and Professional Development at Rockhurst High School.  Before being elected Mayor, Alvey served as the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) president and also previously served as the BPU vice president and secretary.
 
He is a member of the American Public Power Association (APPA) and currently serves on the APPA Policy Makers Council.
 
Mr. Alvey also served on the Planning and Zoning Commission of the Unified Government. He served as the dean of students and also taught U.S. history at Rockhurst High School and served as Program Director of the Student Support Program in Marin County, California.   Mr. Alvey is the former National Chair of Dean’s of Students of the Jesuit Secondary Education Association.
 
He graduated from Savior of the World High School and attended Rockhurst College before graduating Summa Cum Laude in Philosophy and Letters from St. Louis University.
 
David and his wife Ann Marie are the parents of five children: Juliana, Christiana, Joseph, Mariana and Analisa.
