The Neighborhood Resource Center (NRC) opened in June 1999 in collaboration and support from neighborhood groups and organizations throughout the community. There are currently seven departments located in the NRC facility. The seven departments located in the NRC are:
Community Policing and the Police Report Desk are divisions of the KCKPD, but located next door to the NRC. Operation Brightside is a division under the Public Works Department, but the office is located in the NRC.
The concept of the NRC was to create a focal point for residents to address and confront problems and issues facing their neighborhoods and as well as to provide an easy access to all UG neighborhood services and initiatives. There are currently nine departments located in the NRC facility and their main objectives are to:
Create a place where staffs from different departments affecting neighborhoods can work together on the issues facing neighborhoods.
Create a place where neighborhood leaders and representatives can come to get information and assistance and work with the Unified Government staff.
Develop an innovative and unified leadership for the Unified Government's neighborhood services and initiatives.
The importance of such services is based on the belief that neighborhoods are the building blocks that lead to a stronger, healthier, viable city. We hope that you find this site helpful in locating the services you need to assist you.
