The Appraiser's Office is assigned the task of appraising, or valuing real estate and personal property at fair market value for tax purposes. The County Appraiser does not set, nor collect taxes.  After the Appraiser has valued all property in the county, the information is provided to the Register of Deeds.  Once the taxing jurisdictions set the mill levies for taxes and the Unified Government Board of Commission set the county budget, the Treasurer is assigned to collect the taxes.  

The Appraiser’s Office Consist of two divisions. The divisions are Real Estate and Personal Property. Vehicle Property is a unit under the Personal Property division.

The Unified Government’s website allows property owners to view the appraised value of their home or business (and property characteristics) and motor vehicle property tax information at your leisure. You can also access personal property tax return Forms  online and information that explains the appraisal and appeals process and important dates, deadlines, and forms.
