The Finance Department, under the leadership of the Chief Financial Officer, provides fiscal policy recommendations to the County Administrator, Mayor and Unified Government Board of Commissioners.

Finance is responsible for all financial activities and functions of the Government. This department prepares the budgets for the Unified Government, develops long term financial plans, recommends fiscal policy direction, develops and administers financial internal controls, provides research and analysis for citizens, pays all employees and vendors, collects all revenue, invests all idle funds, bills all taxes, records all receipts, expenditures and other financial transactions, prepares all financial reports, and raises all debt financed capital funds and equipment leases on behalf of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas.

The department also coordinates and reviews all tax incentives for economic development projects.
