2021 Informal Real Estate Appeal Deadline has Expired

The deadline to file a 2021 Informal appeal for commercial and residential real estate was April 14, 2021. No extension to file past this statutory deadline date has been granted.

The 2021 real estate values were released to the public on March 15, 2021, and property owners were given 30-days to submit an appeal.

The next opportunity to appeal your 2021 value and/or classification is when the first half taxes become due in December. See information here on the Payment Under Protest process.

For property specific information, please refer to this helpful guide on Navigating the Appraiser’s Website. For information concerning the appeal process, please refer to this Informal Appeal Process flyer.

2021 Personal Property Notice of Values

The County Appraiser’s Office is required per K.S.A. 79-1460, to notify taxpayers of the valuation and classification of their personal property on or before May 1st each year.

If the value notice does not represent the personal property owned by you, you have questions regarding the notice, or you wish to appeal the value/classification, please contact the WyandotteCounty Appraiser’s Office at 913-573-8400.

You may also reach us by email at to schedule an informal hearing on or before the May 15th, 2021 appeal deadline.

Appraiser’s Office Open with Restrictions

Due to the need for social distancing, limits to the number of visitors that can access the building will be monitored by security.  Visitors will also be required to have their temperatures taken before being admitted. No person with symptoms, or a fever, will be allowed to enter the building.  Visitors are also required to wear masks or face coverings when entering a public building.

We understand these changes are an inconvenience, but the health and safety of our team members and the community is our greatest concern.

Our office can also be reached via the phone at (913) 573-8400 or by emailing us at
On behalf of the Appraiser’s Office Staff, we wish you and your family health and safety during this difficult time.

The Appraiser's Office discovers, inspects, evaluates and assigns a market or appraised value and classification to all taxable and exempt property in the County and otherwise implements all State laws, including administrative rules and regulations set by the Kansas Department of Revenue, Property Valuation Division. The resulting taxable assessed values become the total base of the County. The Appraiser's Office defends those values when they are appealed and will recommend adjustment, if necessary. The County Appraiser also administers all matters relating to the exemption of property and the filing of tax grievances by taxpayers.
