Clerk's Office

The Clerk’s office serves as the official record custodian of city and county records of the Unified Government. Customer service, accuracy and transparency are our top priorities. We strive to fulfill the statutory duties of the office in a prompt and effective manner by providing services that connect citizens to their government.

We are responsible for meeting statutory deadlines and compliance of the Kansas Open Records Act by providing information and copies of official government records for citizens and staff. We record, transcribe and distribute minutes of Commission meetings, process special assessments, conveyance of deeds for Wyandotte County, update and maintain the Code of Ordinances and provide notarization services. We also maintain efficient and expedient mail delivery of interoffice and outgoing mail.

Senior Citizen Refund Programs -04/07/2020

The Clerks Office understands we are in a season of assisting our residents with applications for various Senior Citizen Rebates. The Clerks Office of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas is announcing operational changes as of March 16th, 2020 in response to COVID-19:

  • Senior Citizens’ Utility Tax and KCKS City Sales Tax Refund Programs were in effect through March 31, 2020.
  • Filing for the Homestead Property and Safe Senior Tax Refunds has been extended and is available through October 15th, 2020 by way of Executive Order NO. 20-13 signed by Gov. Laura Kelly on March 23, 2020. While these programs require this information to be walked into the office, in response to COVID-19, we are making an exception and during this period we are accepting Homestead/Safe Senior documents to be mailed to us from all Wyandotte County citizens by way of regular USPS mail, by fax to 913-573-5005, or by scanning and emailing your information to us at ClerkWest@wycokck.org. Meeting the following criteria, all mail-ins along with supporting documentation must be postmarked no later than Thursday, October 15th, 2020
As a Kansas resident for all of 2019 who owned and occupied a homestead, you are eligible for a refund of up to $700 if your total “household income” is $35,700 or less, AND you:
  •  Were born before January 1, 1964; OR
  •  Are totally and permanently disabled or blind for the entire year of 2019; OR
  • Have a dependent child who lived with you the entire year that was born before January 1, 2019, and was under the age of 18 all of 2019; OR
  • Are a disabled veteran (50% or more disability), or the surviving spouse of a disabled veteran who has not remarried, or the surviving spouse of an active duty military personnel who died in the line of duty and not remarried.
  •  "Household income" is generally all income received by all members of the household. This includes both taxable and non-taxable income.
