Established by the Kansas Legislature in 1986 to foster improved health and health care for an aging population, the Landon Center on Aging is an interdisciplinary hub for education, research, health care and community engagement for older Kansans. The center provides facilities for a robust portfolio of research on such aging-related issues as prevention and treatment of disability, cognitive function, and patterns of healthcare delivery. The Human Performance Laboratory is a 2,500-square-foot state-of-the-art interdisciplinary research and education center to study age-related changes in mobility.
The Landon Center is home to a geriatric medicine clinic, seeing patients from around the community for primary and consultative care, with an interdisciplinary approach that not only provides a comprehensive patient assessment, but also offers a training ground for medical students, residents, and fellows in an array of specialties.
The Landon Center also serves as a hub for community outreach programs, helping seniors stay active and engaged with fitness programs, educational workshops, and regular Brown Bag lunch talks on such topics as sleep health, navigating over-the-counter treatments for older adults, and tips and tricks on what to do with everything when you downsize your home.
