How to Participate in a Virtual Meeting

To reduce the spread of COVID-19, the meetings of the Unified Government Board of Commission will be conducted remotely using Zoom, an online meeting tool. The Mayor, Commission and Unified Government staff will all participate in the meeting remotely or in person. Members of the public may attend meetings virtually using the above link and/or phone dial-in information. The information is also available on the agenda itself.

To participate or comment during virtual Board of Commission Meetings, please be aware of the following information:

  • Public comment during the meetings will be limited to 3 minutes and you will need to contact the Clerk’s Office to speak at (913) 573-5260 or email ugclerkrequest@wycokck.org

  • You can also email a comment to be added to the record at ugclerkrequest@wycokck.org and reference the meeting date and agenda item you wish to comment on and it will be made part of the record. Your email should indicate in the Subject line the item name and whether you are FOR or AGAINST that particular item. Additional comments may be included in the email.

  • Other options are to fax your request to (913) 573-5299 or mail your request to Unified Government Clerk’s office, 701 N. 7th Street, Suite 323, Kansas City, KS 66101

  • While the public is encouraged to submit comments in advance, meetings that include public hearings will include opportunity for public comments using the Zoom application or dialing into the meeting by phone. Please be prepared to give your first name, last name, address and phone number calling from for the public record.

  • The public will also have an opportunity to provide brief comments either by telephone or via Zoom from the lobby of the Municipal Office Building.

Deadlines to request to speak or submit comments are below:

  • Standing Committee - Standing Committee comments on any agenda item can be submitted in advance and will be taken up to 5:00 PM on the Thursday before the meeting. Requests to make public comments will be taken up to 5:00 PM on Thursday before that item will be discussed at the Standing Committee meeting.

  • Board of Commission - Comments on any agenda item can be submitted in advance and will be taken up to 5:00 PM on the Wednesday before the meeting. Requests to make public comments will be taken up to 5:00 PM on Wednesday before that item will be discussed during a Public Hearing or as part of a Board of Commission – Planning & Zoning agenda.

Proper meeting decorum is expected of all in attendance at the meeting, and anyone who fails to act properly may be removed from the meeting. The Unified Government reserves the right to discontinue a meeting if any improper behavior occurs which prevents the uninterrupted conduct of business.
