Tom Burroughs

Tom Burroughs is the At-Large District 2 Commissioner of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas.

Tom Burroughs is currently serving a second term as Commissioner At-Large, District 2 for the Unified Government of Wyandotte County, Kansas City, Kansas.

He was first elected to the Kansas House of Representatives in 1996 and proudly served 26 years. He served as Assistant Democratic Leader and Democrat Leader. Tom received Governor’s appointment to the Kansas Athletic Commission and serves as Chair. 

Tom serves on several boards including, Board of Director for Wyandotte County Economic Development Committee (WYDEC); KCATA Board; Chief of Elected Officials Board of Directors for Workforce Partnership; Chair of both Public Works and Safety, and Economic Development and Finance Committees for the Unified Government; Mid-American Regional Council Board of Directors; KCK Convention Visitors Bureau; Chair of the UG Economic Development and Finance Standing Committee; and Chair of Public Works and Safety Standing Committee. Tom has received numerous State and Community Service Awards.

In 2006, Tom retired from the Colgate-Palmolive Company after 29 years of service.

Tom and wife Cathie married in 1981.
