Environmental Health

The Environmental Health Program provides services to ensure that the essential ingredients of a vibrant community; land, food, and recreational waters are safe and healthy. This is achieved through organized activities to protect and enhance the public’s health by controlling potentially harmful materials, organisms, energies, and environmental conditions.

It is targeted toward preventing disease and creating health-supportive environments. This definition excludes behavior unrelated to the environment, behavior associated with the social and cultural environment, and genetics.
