Get Involved

Organizations, neighborhood groups, and community members who want to make a difference in Wyandotte County’s health have many ways to get involved. Here are a few of the ways to get engaged

Healthy Communities Wyandotte

Healthy Communities Wyandotte (HCW) builds partnerships to create conditions in our County that support health for everyone. This means taking on multiple issue areas that impact wellbeing and quality of life, including, but not limited to:

  • Advocating for public policies that support the health of our community.

  • Reducing the burden of tobacco-related illness and the negative impact of Big Tobacco on our community.

  • Creating a built environment that makes it easier to be physically active for recreation and transportation.

The UG Public Health Department is proud to offer staff support to HCW teams as part of the Healthy Communities Division. Learn more about what HCW does and how you can get involved at healthywyco.squarespace.com.

Latino Health for All

The Latino Health for All (LHFA) Coalition engages community partners to reduce health disparities and the negative health impacts of chronic disease in Wyandotte County, with special emphasis on improving the health of Latinos and other populations greatly affected by health disparities. LHFA works toward these goals in three committees that work on:

  • Nutrition
  • Physical Activity
  • Access to Health Services
