The Wyandotte County Parks Foundation provides opportunities for individuals and organizations to improve the quality of life by supporting Parks & Recreation services in Wyandotte County, KS.

Founded in 1993 for the betterment of public parks in Wyandotte County, KS. The foundation is a qualified tax-exempt Kansas non-profit corporation. The first major project sponsored by the Wyandotte County Parks Foundation has been the collaboration with the Kansas City, KS Public Schools (USD 500), the Kansas City, KS Public Library, and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS to build the Mr. & Mrs. F.L. Schlagle Library, an Environmental Learning Center at Wyandotte County Lake Park.

Programs: The Foundation seeks grants and donors to support parks and recreation through the Parks & Recreation Department of the Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, KS.

The Parks & Recreation Department and the Agricultural Center are community partners that work together to provide our community with various educational programs and activities.

The National Agricultural Center and Hall of Fame, or the Ag Center as it is more commonly known, became a reality when it was issued a federal charter by an act of the 86^th Congress and signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower on August 31^st, 1960.

This rare federal charter, a historic beginning the institution shares with organizations like the American Red Cross, the Veterans of Foreign Wars, and the Future Farmers of America, charged the Ag Center to serve as the “national” museum of agriculture and a memorial to farming leaders. President Harry Truman’s plow and more than 30,000 agricultural relics are here.
