Recycling & Yard Waste Center: 3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, KS 66102
The Recycling & Yard Waste Center is open free of charge to Wyandotte County Residents. The center can accept items like clear, brown, and colored glass; mixed office paper, cardboard, food & beverage cans, plastics #1-7, grass clippings, garden trimmings, leaves, branches, and stumps. Visitors will need to show proof of residency with a drivers license, BPU bill, or some other document displaying their name and address.
The Center is open from 10 AM to 3 PM Thursday through Sunday, except on holidays, from:
- March 31 to November 20, and
Every Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM, except on holidays from:
- December 3 to March 26, 2023
The Center will be closed on April 15-17, November 11, December 24 & 25, December 31, and January 1, 2023.

Household Hazardous Waste Disposal Center: 2443 S 88th Street, Kansas City, KS 66111
Can't put it in the trash? Bring it to the HHW! The HHW is available to Wyandotte County residents free of charge. Products accepted include auto batteries, used motor oil, brake fluid, carburetor cleaner, degreasers, gasoline & fuels, furniture stripper, glue with solvents, latex & oil-based paints, paint thinner, putty, grout, caulk & spackle, roofing tar, stain varnish & lacquer, aerosol products, drain & oven cleaners, mothballs, nail polish remover, polish with solvents, spot remover, and propane cylinders. Only 5-gallon or less containers of HHW liquid(s) will be accepted. Visitors will need to show proof of residency with a drivers license, BPU bill, or some other document displaying their name and address.
The HHW is open on the following Saturdays in 2023: April 15, May 13, June 10, July 8, August 12, September 9, and October 14.
