Overview

The Unified Government Research Division provides survey research for other Unified Government departments as well as various not-for-profit agencies in Wyandotte County. This page contains survey results from past surveys. Below is a list of surveys with a link to the summary data. Also provided is a description of the survey and the date that it was conducted.

2022 Community Survey

On Thursday, April 28, 2022, the Unified Government Board of Commissioners received an update on the 2022 Community Survey Results from ETC Institute, a third-party provider that helps us facilitate our bi-annual survey. Please check out the video below for the overview of the survey responses. Please keep in mind, this was part of a much longer meeting which is why the presenter is a little rushed. We will be developing additional videos in the coming weeks to share survey data in greater detail.

Budget Survey (June 2012)

A budget survey was conducted for the 2013 budget and was intended to be answered by Wyandotte County residents to get their viewpoints on the 2013 proposed budget.

Public Safety & Infrastructure Sales Tax Focus Group (January 2010)

The purpose of the focus groups was to gather input from residents about issues related to a sales tax for public safety and infrastructure that was being considered by the Unified Government.

Community Survey - KCK (January 2008)

Survey sent to randomly selected Kansas City, KS residents to gain an understanding on various issues such as fireworks sale and use, smoking ban, spending of additional revenues and a one-quarter cent sales tax for city services.

New Housing Survey - KCK (October 2006)

Survey sent to all new residential single and multi-family addresses for which permits were issued between 2000 & 2005. The purpose of the survey was to understand why persons choose their new home.

Village West & The Legends Survey (October 2006)

Survey of Village West and the Legends businesses with the goal of gaining information on positions and employees that work at the businesses.

Community Development Plan Survey (June 2005)

Information from survey used to update the Unified Government's (5) Year Housing Plan which addresses the needs of the city's neighborhoods and housing units.

Local Business Survey (July 2003)

The purpose of the survey was to understand how businesses in Wyandotte Co. might be affected by Kansas Speedway events, T-Bones baseball games and Village West shopping.

The purpose of the survey was to understand retail shopping attitudes in Wyandotte Co. before development of the 400 acres (Village West) adjacent to the Kansas Speedway.

Citizen's Survey of Life - County (September 2000)

Survey undertaken by the Citizens Planning Committee (CPC) which is part of the WyCo Economic Development Council. The purpose of the survey was to gain insight into the thoughts of residents about living in the County.
