2023 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo

The American Public Power Association (APPA) has chosen the Kansas City Board of Public Utilities (BPU) as the host for the 2023 Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo. The event will take place on Saturday, April 1, in Bonner Springs, KS at the National Agricultural Center & Hall of Fame and is being called “The Showdown in the Sunflower State”. On that day, hundreds of electric lineworkers will compete for professional recognition, attend training, and practice essential skills in a safe environment.

This free family-friendly event is open to the public, there will be food trucks and children’s activities available with an opening ceremony beginning at 7:30m with the competition starting at 8:00am and should be concluded by 3:00PM. Participants will climb power poles, install equipment and simulate the rescuing of injured workers in timed events. The Public Power Lineworkers Rodeo is the foremost showcase of public power lineworker skill and knowledge – and a unique opportunity for lineworkers to connect with and learn from their nationwide community.
