PlanKCK Neighborhood Roundtable

Attention Neighborhood Leaders and Neighbors: join us for an exciting roundtable discussion on what a thriving, empowered neighborhood looks like and how we achieve it.

Planning for our community is like planning for your household - you have an idea of what you would like to achieve in the future and you layout the pieces that will help you get there. For a community, the pieces include public policy that is adopted by your elected officials and sets the goals; strategies for attracting the resources, funding, and partners to help us achieve these goals; and an empowered community that believes in these goals and is contributing in their own way to making this vision a reality.

A comprehensive plan establishes a shared vision for our community that helps guide future infrastructure, development, and key investments that shape our neighborhoods and quality of life for the next 25 years or so. The Unified Government is kicking off this process with a Neighborhood Roundtable on Saturday, April 29 from 10AM-12PM at the Eisenhower Community Center where we will be discussing a topic that has been a key theme behind much of the federal funding now available: resiliency.

This term, resiliency, is complex and means something different depending on who you ask. In principle, it is the idea that disasters and bad things happen but a prepared community can bounce back and recover more quickly, making it resilient. Ultimately, it is about ensuring that our neighborhoods are thriving and empowered in good times and bad. Join us for a conversation about what this means for your neighborhood and what you imagine for the future.
