The Child Care Services Program works with all child care providers in Wyandotte County. According to Kansas Child Care Licensing Law, anyone providing out of home care for children birth to (16) years of age other than those related by blood, marriage, or adoption, must be licensed or registered with the Kansas Department of Health and Environment.

 

This program provides information on adolescent health through consultation, technical assistance, and educational presentations to agencies (local and state, public and private). Also, responds to inquiries concerning adolescent health services from medical professionals, legislators, other agencies and the public.

Eligibility Requirements:

Wyandotte County resident, and a high school graduate or GED holder.

 

Is there a fee?

All interested persons must attend an orientation meeting that will cost $10.00 (see below). Also, an additional fee for the actual license, administrative fee to the health department, and a city occupation tax fee payable to the Unified Government. Fees are determined based on the type of facility and licensed capacity.

 

Orientation Information:

Individuals who are interested in becoming licensed should attend an orientation session. Sessions are held on the second Tuesday of every month from 9:30AM - noon at the Health Department. There is a $10 fee to attend. Please call (913) 573-6702 to reserve your spot.
