Response from the State of Kansas

FROM: State of Kansas:

Thank you for reaching out. As I am sure you can imagine, our call centers are completely overloaded, and call backs and emails are secondary to answering the incoming calls. The best way to get answers and to file for unemployment (or if a business and wanting to file by spreadsheet or file for shared work program) is to have them get online at www.GetKansasBenefits.gov or www.dol.ks.gov. If they choose to call instead, it is a long wait, and they should be prepared to be on hold for some time.

We are currently training about 20 existing KDOL employees who formerly worked in the call center to try to help alleviate the call burden, but it takes time. Under normal circumstances someone would already be returning a call, but these are not normal circumstances.

There is also a COVID-19 button with info directly related to this issue.

Please accept my apologies for not having someone available at this time. Please do encourage them to get online. It is the fastest, best avenue at this time. There are many helpful FAQ, tutorials and the ability to file online.  Thank you.
