Earlier this month, Mayor Tyrone A. Garner issued a proclamation for May as Historic Preservation Month. This year's theme is People Saving Places and we are celebrating preservation by putting a spotlight on the first Historic Preservationist hired by the Unified Government, Randy Greeves. Mr. Greeves is working with the Department of Planning & Urban Design to identify and support the preservation of important cultural and historic buildings across our community. We have found his energy and passion for his work very inspiring so we developed a video series to share some of this inspiration with you all.

Introducing Historic Preservation Tours with Randy Greeves

This multi-part series starts with a tour of Downtown Kansas City, Kansas. The Unified Government has been working with local property owners to apply for a historic commercial district designation for our historic urban core. Start here!

The second part of the series takes us to the beautiful Sauer Castle with a rare look inside of this historic home. Under new ownership, we are excited to return once their restoration is complete to share the story of this great building being brought back to life.
