Public Works’ Street Maintenance team continues their work to clear local streets of debris from yesterday’s storm. Several areas remain blocked, but they should be cleared later today and tomorrow.

Debris in the street will be moved to the closest adjacent right-of-way. It is important to remember that disposing of debris that has blown or fallen into the street is the responsibility of the nearest property owner.

If you need to dispose of storm debris, remember that you have several options:

Take it to the Recycling & Yard Waste Center
Located at 3241 Park Drive, the Recycling & Yard Waste Center is pleased to extend its opening hours for a special day on Sunday, July 16, from 10 AM to 3 PM in response to the thunderstorm. This dedicated facility allows Wyandotte County residents to responsibly dispose of yard waste and recycle items. However, it is important to note that the center cannot accept stumps and logs larger than 12 inches in diameter or items over four feet long.

The center’s regular operating hours are Thursday through Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM, except on holidays. Visitors will need to provide proof of residency with a driver’s license, BPU bill, or some other document displaying their name and address.

Put it Out With Your Normal Trash & Recycling
Kansas City, Kansas, residents can place debris curbside on their regular trash day. Leaves and grass clippings must be bagged and not more than 50 pounds per bag. Tree limbs must be tied in bundles not more than four feet long, less than 50 pounds, and 4 inches or less in diameter.
