The Unified Government of Wyandotte County/Kansas City, Kansas' Public Works Department is aware of a temporary issue affecting residents who report missed trash or recycling collection online through WM’s website (wm.com) or mobile app (My WM). Some residents may see a message incorrectly directing them to contact the UG instead of WM. This message is an error and can be safely ignored. Reports submitted through the website and app are still reaching WM for attention. WM is actively working to correct the issue and expects it to be resolved by April 10 at the earliest. “We understand how frustrating it can be when residents don’t receive clear information about their waste collection services,” said Diana Miles, Solid Waste Manager for Public Works. “Although the system displays an incorrect message, reports are still being processed. We appreciate everyone’s patience while WM works on a fix.” This issue comes after the recent customer service transition that shifted responsibility for handling trash and recycling service requests from the UG’s 3-1-1 Call Center to WM’s customer service team. As of February 1, residents must report missed collections and submit other service-related inquiries directly to WM. In the meantime, residents who need assistance are encouraged to contact WM by calling 1-800-796-9696. The UG appreciates residents’ patience as WM resolves this issue.
