New Northeast/Fairfax Microtransit Zone Route Will Launch Soon!
Edwardsville and Bonner Springs residents now have daily access to a new UG public transportation option to get to The Legends as well as make connections to the Metro-area RideKC system!
On Tuesday, November 14, 2023, the Unified Government's Transportation Department launched its new Southwest Edwardsville to Legends Microtransit Zone service. This service is an on-demand shared ride transit service that operates in a specific radius and includes fixed route access. Microtransit service allows passengers to request and pay for rides through the IRIS Mobile App (for Android and iOS,) the IRIS Booking Website or through our UGT Dispatch Center at 913-573-8351.
What is IRIS?
IRIS is an app-driven premium service. The service utilizes an on-demand dynamic routing model, which picks up and drops off riders in locations within one-quarter mile of their request. The service gets residents within a quarter mile of their destination for a minimal fee within a defined zone. Each service zone has a designated transit transfer hub.
The IRIS Mobile app replaces the existing Transloc app used for Microtransit. We highly encourage existing Transloc users to download the IRIS Mobile App to continue enjoying microtransit services!
Why is the Unified Government Transportation Department Using IRIS?
This service provides expanded connectivity for residents to fill gaps where a bus stop or other transportation service may not be as accessible. In addition, the service can connect residents to regional IRIS zones, transferring to other counties. For more information: IRIS: On-Demand Microtransit
