Steve WilliamsSteve Williams will serve as Community Engagement and Welfare Advisor for Mayor Garner's office, effective July 6, 2023.

Steve Williams is a lifelong native of KCK with 34 years of Law Enforcement experience. Steve spent 30 years with the KCKPD, working in several different departments from Patrol, D.A.R.E, COPPS (Community Oriented Policing), and Dignitary Services. Most of that time was spent in Community Policing.

After retiring in 2018, he continued his law enforcement career with the Kansas City, Kansas public school police department, working in the schools, community engagement, and recruiting. Williams is a member of the Saint Andrew, Missionary Baptist Church, the Bonner, Springs Park, and recreation advisory board, Widow’s sons lodge # 17 Karon Temple # 33, and several other community boards. He has been married to LaVonne Williams for 31 years, and has two adult children, Kieara and Steve Jr, and 3 grandchildren.
