Adopt A Stop Program

Adopt-A-Stop Program

We’re proud to support the Adopt-A-Stop initiative, a volunteer program launched by the Kansas City Area Transportation Authority (KCATA) to help keep our neighborhoods clean, welcoming, and litter-free.

Adopt-A-Stop invites local businesses, schools, and community organizations to take an active role in maintaining the cleanliness and appearance of bus stops throughout Kansas City. By volunteering just a small amount of time each week, you can make a big impact on the environment—and gain positive visibility for your organization.

How It Works:

Participants in the Adopt-A-Stop program commit to:

  • Picking up litter around their adopted bus stop at least once a week (or more frequently, as needed).
  • Disposing of collected trash through their own trash disposal service (not KCATA bins).
  • Reporting any graffiti or vandalism to the program manager (participants should not attempt to clean it themselves).

This simple commitment helps ensure that bus stops remain clean, attractive, and safe for all riders.

Recognizing Your Efforts:

In appreciation of your service, KCATA will:

  • Install a custom sign at your adopted stop featuring your name or organization.
  • Highlight your efforts on RideKC’s social media platforms.
  • Provide an official adoption certificate after one year of participation.

The first to step up? Ruby Jean’s Juicery, who adopted the stop at 31st & Troost—right near their business at 3000 Troost. Join them in making a difference!
