The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) is excited to celebrate and participate in AmeriCorps Week starting Sunday, March 13- 19th 2022

AmeriCorps Week is a week-long celebration that honors the thousands of organizations and the millions of Americans who choose to serve their country and communities with service and time through the AmeriCorps programs.

The Unified Government has been a proud AmeriCorps grantee for over eight years. The impactful partnership with the AmeriCorps VISTA program has provided many community resources within the UG and throughout various Wyandotte County communities. The VISTA program tackles community-identified priorities in areas from public health initiatives to neighborhood revitalization. Since 2014, over 90 AmeriCorps VISTA members have been sworn into service through the UG partnership.

“The AmeriCorps members serving in our VISTA program here at the UG are doing such great work,” expressed Allison Zuel, AmeriCorps Initiatives Supervisor, Unified Government Public Health Department. “I’m so happy to get to celebrate and recognize them this week! If you see one of our members, be sure to thank them and ask about their service.”

To recognize the contributions made to Wyandotte County from the AmeriCorps VISTA members, the Unified Government will be hosting a member appreciation luncheon for all VISTA members.
