On February 1, Google Fiber customers in Kansas City, KS will begin receiving a 60-day notification of the addition of a Local Access Fee starting in April 2024. A reminder email will be sent to customers on March 1 for the April 1 launch. The 2% franchise fee is paid to the City of Kansas City, KS for access to the public right-of-way (streets and poles) to support the internet provider.
Please be advised that Google Fiber has notified the Unified Government that there was an error with some customers' billing where the fee may have been applied before the set date. Customers will be notified and credited if this occurs.
