MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the Area Agency on Aging is to empower older citizens, to ensure their dignity and respect by allowing them to make choices for themselves with a primary focus on supporting residential choice and avoidance of premature institutionalization.

HISTORY
The Wyandotte/Leavenworth Area Agency on Aging was established in 1973 as a result of amendments to The Older Americans Act of 1965 to serve as an advocate for senior adults. The agency is under the direct sponsorship of the United States Administration on Aging and is administrated by The Kansas Department on Aging and the Unified Government of Wyandotte County Board of Commissioners.
