What is Freedom On-Demand?

Freedom On-Demand is a public para-transit service that is modeled after traditional ride-hailing services. It is designed to serve as a supplement to the RideKC transit network by providing individualized curb-to-curb rides without fixed routes or timetables.

Traditional para-transit service is designed for people who are unable to independently use a fixed route transit system. It is therefore operated within a 3/4 mile of all fixed route lines. Freedom On-Demand however is available to everyone and allows for travel anywhere in Wyandotte County. Thus, providing another mobility option for residents of Wyandotte County.

Who can use Freedom On-Demand?

While Freedom On-Demand is primarily designed for persons with disabilities (ADA) and Non-ADA seniors (65+), anyone can use the service.

Where can I use Freedom On-Demand?

Freedom On-Demand allow for travel anywhere within the RideKC service area.

When can I use Freedom On-Demand?

Freedom On-Demand is available (24) hours a day, (7) days a week.

How do I use Freedom On-Demand?

Freedom On-Demand trips may be booked via the Freedom On-Demand app (available on both iPhone and Android smartphones and tablets) or by calling the RideKC Freedom call center at (816) 842-9070 and selection option 4.

What does Freedom On-Demand cost?

For the general public the fare is $10 for up to 5 miles and $2 for each additional mile. For ADA and Non-ADA Seniors (65+) subsidized trips (using a preauthorized account number and PIN), the fare is $5 for up to 5 miles and then $2 for each additional mile.
