CSO14 Public Information Session
The project is the fourth of 14 planned separation projects that are part of a broader initiative under the Unified Government’s Consent Decree with the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Justice. The estimated $15.8 million total project cost is funded by wastewater user fees. Currently, both stormwater and sanitary sewage - wastewater that is transported from homes and businesses – are collected through a combined sewer pipe for treatment and flow to the wastewater treatment facility.
The Combined Sewer Overflow (CSO) 14 Sewer Separation Project is from 18th street to the west, Quindaro Boulevard to the north, 12th Street to the east, and Parallel Parkway to the south. The CSO 14 project will:
- Reduce the amount of overflows of combined sanitary sewage and stormwater to Jersey Creek during wet weather events.
- Reduce costs associated with treating stormwater in the combined sewer system at the Kaw Point Wastewater Treatment Facility.
- Reduce health risks and environmental issues.
To find out more, join the project team for this in-person public information session. One formal presentation will begin at 5:45 PM.
