UG to Host Renaming Ceremony for Deputy Elijah Ming Field in KCK

On Thursday, December 11, 2025, at 3PM the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS will host a ceremony for the renaming of Heathwood Park in KCK to now be known as Elijah Ming Memorial Field (1021 Parallel Pkwy, Kansas City, KS 66104).

Community members are invited to attend this event, as Mayor Tyrone Garner, along with the Ming Family and the Wyandotte County Sherriff's Office honor the life and legacy of fallen Deputy Elijah Ming and officially rename Heathwood Baseball Field, "Deputy Elijah Ming Memorial Field".

In November 2025, the Unified Government Board of Commissioners unanimously approved a resolution to rename Heathwood Park Baseball Field to Elijah Ming Memorial Field.

Deputy Elijah Ming tragically lost his life responding to a call on July 26th, 2025.
