During the Thursday, June 26, 2025, Full Commission Meeting, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) Board of Commission unanimously voted to approve 71 organizations serving Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS for the 2025 Hollywood Casino Grant Program.
The Hollywood Casino Grant is an annual program established by the Board of Commission, made possible by a contribution by the Hollywood Casino. This grant program supports local nonprofits working on community health initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, access to fresh food, and physical activity with grants. Each Commission district is granted a comparable amount each grant cycle. This year, grant applications were accepted from March 1st through April 21st.
“The Hollywood Casino Grant program supports vital community initiatives, helping local organizations improve quality of life and foster a stronger, healthier community," said Mayor/ CEO Tyrone A. Garner.
This year the committee in partnership with the Greater Kansas City Community Foundation received 97 grant applications for support. After complete review of each submission, the Unified Government awarded 71 community organizations a total of $474,278.18 for the 2025 Hollywood Casino Grant Program. Grants are made only to nonprofits that have current 501(c)(3) status. Awarded amounts ranged from $500.00 - $28,000 for selected organizations.
