2025 UG Community Survey Launches

The Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS (UG) has announced that the newly revised 2025 Community Survey will begin arriving in select mailboxes starting this week. Administered by Olathe-based ETC Institute, the 2025 Community Survey is mailed to a random sample of Wyandotte County residents for their input on overall quality of life, services and programs, as well as neighborhood priorities. The data collected will be presented to the UG Board of Commissioners as part of the 2026 Budget Process which launched last week.
"We have revamped our community survey to improve its overall usefulness to the organization as a source of feedback from residents," said UG Research Manager Mike Grimm. "We have also increased the frequency of data collection to ensure we have a strong handle on community priorities prior to the annual budget cycle."
The new survey is divided into two versions: one for Kansas City, Kansas residents about city services and a second version for Wyandotte County residents (including Bonner Springs, Edwardsville and Lake Quivira) on county services. The ETC Institute develops a randomized sample and verifies that it reflects our community as reported in the 2020 US Census.
The ETC Insitute will ensure that each Commission District is equally represented and that the sampled population reflects the neighborhoods within the district. Residents may receive one of the two versions and are asked to fill it out and send it back in as soon as possible. Residents can also enter to win a gift card for their participation. All responses remain anonymous.
"With many different needs across the county, it is important for us to be able to share an accurate picture of our community priorities," said County Administrator David W. Johnston, ICMA-CM. "The data collected from this survey will be shared with your elected Commissioners and the public throughout the budget process."
Wyandotte County residents are encouraged to watch their mailbox to see if they are one of the lucky residents selected as part of the random sample. The survey will remain open for several weeks and the results will be presented at an upcoming 2026 Budget Workshop.
