Our property taxes fund our streets, community services, libraries, schools, drainage districts, and community college but each of these functions are managed by different jurisdictions. Each taxing jurisdiction in Wyandotte County collects property taxes to support their mission.
On Wednesday, July 16, the Unified Government Board of Commission held a special meeting to consider a resolution to exceed the revenue neutral rate, set the date for a public hearing regarding the intention to exceed the revenue neutral rate, and set the maximum mill levies for the City of Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County, as required by state law. After much discussion, the UG Board of Commission voted 7 to 3 to exceed the revenue neutral rate. Full Special Meeting Recording: 7/16/2025 - Special Meeting - YouTube
By state law, when the governing body anticipates that it will exceed the revenue neutral rate, i.e. it will take in more money than the past year, it must hold a public hearing for the community to weigh in and provide feedback.
The following chart outlines the upcoming 2025 hearing dates for each of the taxing jurisdictions that touch Wyandotte County residents. To look up which jurisdictions impact you, please lookup your address here.
