FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE July 15, 2021
In compliance with recent Kansas legislation, the Unified Government Commission has called for a public hearing to address the proposed revenue rate for our upcoming budget year. Per SB-13, the governing body must host a public hearing if the intention is to exceed the revenue neutral rate in the upcoming 2022 budget. The revenue neutral rate means the tax rate for the current tax year would generate the same amount of property tax as levied the previous tax year, using the current tax year’s total assessed valuation. This does not mean that the Unified Government plans to raise the mill levy for the upcoming year but simply recognizes that there may be additional revenue as compared to 2020 because of increased property valuations. The Unified Government will hold the required public hearing on Tuesday, September 7 at 5:00PM.
Budget Hearing:
Tuesday, September 7, 2021 5:00PMHosted online via Zoom
