Extended Hours for Recycling & Yard Waste Center

Published on June 03, 2024

For the next two weeks, the Wyandotte County Recycling & Yard Waste Center’s hours will be extended to include Wednesdays from 10 AM to 3 PM.

In response to the recent severe weather, the Recycling & Yard Waste Center will extend its hours of operation for the next two weeks by opening on Wednesdays. This extension is intended to accommodate the increased volume of storm debris generated by recent storms.

Extended & Regular Operating Hours
The Center is usually open Thursday through Saturday, between 10 AM and 3 PM. These extended hours, Wednesday through Saturday from 10 AM to 3 PM, will be in effect until the end of the day on June 12.

Located at 3241 Park Drive, Kansas City, KS 66102, the Recycling & Yard Waste Center can accept grass clippings, leaves, garden trimmings, branches up to 4 feet in length, and stumps not exceeding 12 inches in diameter. Visitors will need to show proof of residency, such as a driver’s license, BPU bill, or another document displaying their name and address. Waste from non-profits and businesses is not accepted.

Help Your Neighborhood
Due to the increase in curbside storm debris, residential trash and recycling collection has slowed down. To help ease this, residents are encouraged to dispose of their storm debris at the Wyandotte County Recycling & Yard Waste Center.

For those who prefer to use the curbside option, please adhere to the following guidelines to help Waste Management team members collect items as quickly as possible:

  • Leaves and Grass Clippings: Must be bagged and weigh no more than 50 pounds per bag.
  • Tree Limbs: Should be tied in bundles, no more than four feet long, weigh less than 50 pounds, and have a diameter of four inches or less.
