Areas of I-635 in Kansas City, Kansas, and I-435 in Johnson County will have guardrails replaced as part of three concurrent Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) projects beginning the evening of Tuesday, April 11, weather permitting. Guardrails will be replaced on northbound and southbound I-635 at Parallel Parkway in Kansas City, Kansas, and northbound and southbound I-435, from 95th Street to Midland Drive in Johnson County. Work will occur Monday through Friday, from 9 AM to 3 PM and 7 PM to 6 PM, with weekend work, as necessary. 24-hour work will be permitted on Saturdays and Sundays. There will be daily and nightly lane and shoulder closures in areas where work is taking place. Traffic will be controlled using lane and ramp closures, portable message signs, arrow boards, and traffic cones. Bettis Asphalt and Construction of Topeka is the project’s contractor, with a combined total cost of approximately $540,000, expected to be completed in late May. KDOT urges all motorists to be alert and obey the warning signs when approaching and driving through a highway work zone. To stay aware of all road construction projects across Kansas, go to www.kandrive.org or call 5-1-1. Drive safely, and always wear your seat belt.
