The Hollywood Casino Grant is an annual program, made possible by a contribution by the Hollywood Casino, that supports local nonprofits working on community health initiatives that promote healthy lifestyles, access to fresh food, and physical activity with grants. While there is no restriction on the minimum or maximum size of the grant, in 2022, the grants ranged from $1,000 to $30,000 and the average grant award was $9,300. Each Commission district is granted a comparable amount each grant cycle.

The Greater Kansas City Community Foundation reports that the Unified Government received 93 applications for the 2023 Hollywood Casino Grant. The foundation, which supports the review and qualification of applications, has completed a preliminary review and will send the applications to the Mayor and Commission, the designated selection committee for this program, for review. The community can expect an update once all applications have been scored and selected in July 2023.

One the 2022 grant awards supported a tree planting project on Central Avenue on April 21, 2023. The event, funded by the Hollywood Casino Grant in partnership with the Central Avenue Betterment Association and Heartland Tree Alliance, brought more street trees to the corridor.
