In observance of the Juneteenth holiday, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) will host “Juneteenth in the Dotte”, a cultural parade and community celebration on Saturday, June 21st, from 9AM – 2PM.

This great partnership among many UG departments, The Village Initiative, Juneteenth in the Dotte, and the Kansas Department of Wildlife and Parks is anticipated to bring many together for a family-friendly, jam-packed parade and celebration.

Juneteenth Parade and Celebration

The parade will kick off at 27th and Vernon Avenue, near the Quindaro Ruins Overlook at 9AM, with festivities beginning at Klamm Park (2515 N. 27th Street, KCK) at 10AM. This year's Parade Grand Marshal will be Wyandotte County’s very own Mayor Tyrone A. Garner, with the emcee for the celebration being Andrea Tapia Executive Director/CEO of the Housing Authority of Kansas City, Kansas.

The 10AM celebration will offer community members fun-filled Juneteenth activities, including lots of great vendors, live entertainment, games, a car show, drill team competition, FREE food, and so much more.

Organizations interested in participating in this year’s parade still have time. Parade applications and waiver forms must be completed by Monday, June 9. Complete details can be found on the UG website.

To help transport Juneteenth celebration attendees, a park and shuttle service will be available from the Carl B. Bruce Middle School (2100 N. 18th St., KCK) to Klamm Park from 9:30AM to 2:30PM.
