A pavement improvement project on a segment of northbound and southbound K-5 from I-635 to 10th Street is scheduled to start Tuesday, May 20, in Kansas City, Kansas, weather permitting.

This Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) project includes mill, overlay, and curb repair. Work is scheduled Monday through Friday during daylight hours. Single-lane closures and intermittent ramp closures will be in place at K-5/North 18th Street during work hours. Traffic will be controlled using channelizers, changeable message boards, and signs.

Message boards have been placed in the area to alert motorists of the upcoming project.

JM Fahey Construction, of Grandview, Missouri, is the contractor for the $1.6 million project, which is expected to be completed in early August.

KDOT urges motorists to stay alert and follow posted signs in all work zones. For current road conditions, visit KanDrive.gov or call 511. For updates on highway projects in northeast Kansas, visit the Northeast KDOT District Office webpage.
