In preparation for the anticipated wintery mix and frigid temperatures, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and Kansas City, Kansas (UG) has taken precautions to ensure the safety of Wyandotte County/ KCK streets and bridges.

On Friday, February 14, 2025, the UG Street Maintenance Division began pre-treating bridges, hills, hot routes, and secondary routes. Once those areas were completed, they moved to pre-treating all Wyandotte County and Kansas City, KS neighborhood streets.

As the weather and frigid approaches, the UG Street Maintenance Division will be monitoring street conditions throughout the day and the night.

Motorists should plan for possibly slick conditions as temperatures decrease.

Residents are reminded to:

  • Avoid parking on the street to allow plows to operate efficiently.
  • If parking on the street cannot be avoided, park your vehicle as close to the curb or street edge as possible.
  • Drive cautiously and allow extra time for travel.
  • When facing the street, shovel snow to the right side of driveways to reduce the chance of plows pushing snow back into cleared areas.
  • Keep children away from snow drifts near the roadway.
