2024 Battle of the Badges Community Blood Drive
Kicking off the morning at KCKFD headquarters at 815 N 6th Street, the Fire Department will take on the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department (KCKPD) and Wyandotte County Sheriff's Office for the second Battle of the Badges community blood drive. This friendly competition, launched last summer, encourages staff and community members to donate blood to the American Red Cross and “vote” for their agency of choice anytime between 9AM-3PM. Anyone interested in giving life-saving blood is strongly encouraged to schedule an appointment. All donors will receive a $10 gift card as a special thanks for their participation.

Sound the Alarm: Smoke Alarm Installations
Just south of the river, from 9AM to 5:30PM, KCKFD will be hosting Sound the Alarm, a neighborhood-wide canvas to install FREE fire alarms for residents in the Argentine and Armourdale neighborhoods. Hosted in partnership with the American Red Cross and Armourdale Renewal Association, residents are encouraged to make an appointment by phone or text to have smoke alarms installed by community volunteers and KCKFD fire trainees. Residents are asked to provide a first and last name, address, best phone number, and a preference of a morning or afternoon appointment.

Station 16 Open House & Ribbon Cutting Ceremony
KCKFD Fire Chief Dennis Rubin and the great men and women of the KCKFD invite members of the community and media to the official open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for Station 16 in the Turner Community (1900 S. 55th Street, KCK 66106). Station 16 is one of the newest stations in the Kansas City, KS area and consolidates two out-of-date stations. This is a family-friendly event with a physical agility course for youth, health monitoring services, hands-only CPR training, and other programs.
“The Kansas City Kansas Fire Department is very pleased and excited to move into our newest Fire Station,” said KCKFD Fire Chief Dennis L. Rubin. “Fire Station 16 will be watching over the Turner Community and surrounding area for many, many years to come. This building incorporates all of the required features of a modern fire station to support the work of the great women and men that comprise the Fire Department. We hope that the community comes out to help us dedicate and open this great facility.”
